There’s no better opportunity or need to go custom than a touring bike. A frame built for you, your body, and your needs allows you to relax and enjoy the journey from “Point A to Point B.” The miles and days (and if you’re lucky, months and years) can lead to moments of feeling all at once a force of nature and an insignificant speck.
A reliable bicycle is a cornerstone in being able to let go and take a life on wheels as it comes. I’ve lived my life out of a set of panniers and I know what it’s like to recognize all my belongings by feel in the dark. Because of these experiences there’s a certain reserve and caution that runs through the touring bikes I make. “Light and Fast” must be tempered with an ability to actually “Get There.”
Whether it’s a genteel tour through the Rhone Valley or bashing through the bush for days on end, the confidence in your bike must be utmost because, really, it’s all you’ve got.
